This information sheet provides a brief of the HND in Graphic Design Programme, which is offered at INtel College.

The HND in GRAPHIC Design enables students to develop a range of specialist technical skills in Programming, Web Development, Graphic Design, Computer Networking, 3D Computer Modelling and Animation, Mobile Apps Development and Systems Development, relevant to the current requirements of the IT industry. The programme covers a broad range of computing principles and applications that may be encountered in modern businesses.

Programme objectives

BTEC Higher Nationals (HNs) provide a programme of specialist vocational learning at Levels 4 and 5, which reflects the requirements of professional graphics designers in organisations and meet the National Occupational Standards for each sector or industry.

BTEC Higher National Certificates (HNCs) which is level 4, equivalent to year 1 of university education in any IT related discipline, offers an internationally recognised qualification with the potential for career progression and professional development for those already in employment, and opportunities to progress to higher education.

BTEC level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND), equivalent to the first 2 years of university education in any graphics and art related discipline offers greater depth and specialisation than the level 4 Higher National Certificate. This level provides a robust platform for progression to, or within, employment, or to further study at degree level. Students with this qualification may qualify for final year on the British system in a related field.

Students studying at INtel College may enrol on either an HNC for 1 year or an HND for 2 years and then progress to the final year of the University of Sunderland degree programme which is offered under collaborative provision at INtel College. .

Programme aims
  • To equip students with knowledge,understanding and skills for success in employment in design industry.
  • To develop the individual's ability to create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform or captivate consumers.
  • To enable students develop the overall layout and production design for advertisements, brochures, magazines, and corporate reports.
  • To provide specialised studies directly relevant to individual vocations and professions in which students are working or intend to seek employment.
  • To provide flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for career development and future studies in graphic design

EDEXCEL, BTEC Higher National Diploma(HND) in Graphic Design Programme

Programme Fees

Admission fee: Kshs. 10,000/- (includes use of library)
Tuition: Kshs. 91,000/- per term
BTEC Registration fee: UK 245 pounds (one off) and annual exam fee of UK 100 pounds

Schedule:

Full-time students: Monday - Friday (08:30am-4:00pm)

Part-time students: Monday - Friday (5:30pm-8:00pm)

Day students may take 3 units each term, 4 sessions (2 hrs each) per week. Evening students may take 2 units, 2 sessions (2.5 hrs) a week per.

However, willing and academically able students may accelerate the programme by taking additional units in a term. This has to be approved by the Head of Department.

Admission Process

Entry requirements
HND candidates should have done KCSE or GCE (A level) or equivalent or related work experience.

Completing the admission process

  1. Complete the admission form (available at the college or at www.inteluni.ac.ke)
  2. Provide 2 passport size photographs
  3. Provide certified copies of your academic credentials
  4. Make admission fee payment of Kshs 10,000/- (ten thousands shillings only) by cash deposit direct to the college account or by cheque payment to INTEL COLLEGE.
Submit items 1-4 above to the college reception

What is the next step to enrolling for HND in Graphic Design Programme?

  • Submit your completed application to INtel College
  • INtel will then forward your application to the Admissions Department, University of Sunderland, Business School
  • Successful candidates will receive a letter of offer from the University  ( via INtel College)
